EV makes motorsport history
- first EV to finish ultra-tough Dakar Rally

The OSCar eO extended-range electric off-roader has made history by becoming the first EV to finish the ultra-tough 5,600-mile Dakar Rally.

Built by Latvian motorsport design/build company OSC, and driven by team director and seven-times Dakar veteran Maris Saukans and his co-driver Andris Dambis, a racing driver and engineer, the one-off OSCar eO came in an impressive 77th overall.

The E-REV’s 150kW electric motor with peak 335kW power and 590lb/ft maximum torque) was more than up to the job on some of the world’s toughest terrain. A ‘range-extender’ Toyota V6 petrol engine generated the electricity powering the drive wheels.
